Pazuello Says Emergency Vaccination against Covid Could Start in December

Minister of Health also hopes to start the broad immunization of the Brazilian population between January and February

Brasília

The Minister of Health, Eduardo Pazuello, said on Wednesday (9) that emergency vaccination against Covid-19 could start for the population in December or January, depending on the authorization granted by Agência National Health Surveillance (Anvisa) and the delivery of vaccines by the laboratories.

Pazuello also said that the broad immunization of the Brazilian population could start in January or February.

The information was given this Wednesday morning in an interview with CNN. The day before, Pazuello made a statement to the press, without citing details about the vaccination plan.

“Emergency use could happen now in December, in hypothesis, if we close the contract with Pfizer. The 'if' is because the contract is being closed. Sorry about the gerund. If Pfizer gets emergency authorization and if Pfizer advances some delivery to us, it could happen in January, late December,” said the minister.
