Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) approved this Tuesday (23) the definitive registration of the vaccine against Covid manufactured by the American Pfizer and the German BioNTech companies.

This is the first record of a Covid vaccine approved by the agency. Before that, the agency had endorsed the emergency use of two vaccines (Coronavac, from Butantan and Sinovac, and Covishield, from the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca), in a model considered more restricted.

"I inform you with great satisfaction that, after a 17-day review period, the General Management of Medicines, of the Second Board, granted the first registration of vaccine against Covid 19, for wide use in the Americas," said the CEO from the agency, Antonio Barra Torres.

According to Anvisa, the record indicates that the immunizer "had its safety, quality and efficacy, measured and attested to" by the technical team. "We hope that other vaccines will soon be evaluated and approved," added Barra Torres.
