Brazilian Mayors Call for International Help to Combat Covid in Video

In recording for the National Front of Mayors, managers defend science and ask for help

Mayors from eight cities in Brazil, including six capitals, asked for international help in combating the Covid-19 pandemic in a video produced and released by the National Mayors Front on Monday (29) .

In the recording, with English subtitles, the managers affirm that, with the help of other nations, they can make beds, medicines, free testing, vaccines and oxygen available, in addition to helping the most vulnerable populations.

In the video, the mayors alternate and complete their lines, suggesting that they are united. They say that Brazil is going through the biggest health and humanitarian crisis in its history, facing collapse in the health care system, in tourism, in the economy and in the life of the population.

According to the National Front of Mayors, the objective of the project is to publicize, in the national and international media, that the mayors are committed to facing Covid-19 supported by science.

Brazil recorded 1,969 deaths and 44,720 cases of the disease in the last 24 hours, amid a strong upsurge in the pandemic. The country reached the fourth day in a row with a record moving average of deaths, which now stands at 2,655.
