Moderna Wants to Bring Its mRNA Vaccine to Brazil

Agreement with pharmaceutical was signed, but there are no details on order for use in the country

São Paulo

The pharmaceutical company Moderna wants to bring its Covid vaccine to Latin America, including Brazil among the possible destinations, in addition to Mexico, Colombia and Argentina.

For this, the company has partnered with the Latin American pharmaceutical group Adium Pharma, which will be responsible for the distribution of immunizers.

Moderna's vaccine is not yet authorized for use in the country. There is no information about the timetable for applying for its use with the National Health Surveillance Agency.

Moderna's vaccine, like Pfizer's, uses mRNA (messenger RNA) as a vaccine platform.

This platform teaches the body how to build the coronavirus spike protein, which it uses to invade our cells.

In this way, the immune system already has a previous contact with the "foreign body" and, in case of contamination, the organism knows how to fight the infection.
