After Folha published an article on the subject and questioned Butantan about some of these cases, Dimas Covas resigned from his position as director of the institute this Wednesday (30). This happened during a meeting between him and the governor.

The request was then accepted by Secretary David Uip, from the Science, Research and Development in Health cabinet. He remains, however, in charge of the foundation. "Dimas resigned for personal reasons. I never agreed that the president or superintendent of the foundation should be also the director of the institute. The institute has the foundation as support, and I don't think the supporting institute should be bigger than the parent institution", Uip told Folha. The reporting team contacted Dimas Covas to find out if he would like to speak beyond the official position of the foundation, but no answer was received to update this article.
