President Jair Bolsonaro (no party) confirmed this Tuesday afternoon (1st) that Brazil will host the 2021 Soccer America Cup.
According to the chief of staff, General Luiz Eduardo Ramos, the games will be held in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Mato Grosso and Goiás, in addition to the Federal District.
During an event in Brasília, Bolsonaro had announced Mato Grosso do Sul instead of Mato Grosso. He had also said that a fifth state, which "arrived a little late," would be host.
Backstage, there was talk in São Paulo, but Governor João Doria (PSDB) decided to veto Copa América games in the state.
Governors of other states had already announced that they would not accept games because of the pandemic.
