Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil and Anitta Will Perform at the Opening Ceremonies for Rio-16
Musicians Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso and Anitta will perform at one of the shows of the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Rio on August 5 at Maracanã.
Participation by all three was confirmed on Sunday (10th) to Folha by the Rio-2016 Organizing Committee and by agents for Caetano and Anitta.
Gil, 74 and Caetano, 73 have been on tour together since last year, celebrating their 50-year-careers as performers. They have a show scheduled for later in August in Rio
In the opening ceremonies of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, there were performances by Pink Floyd, Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Sex Pistols, The Clash, Rolling Stones, Adele and Paul McCartney, among others.
The Rio-2016 Opening Ceremony is expected to last about 3 hours.
Maracanã's gates will open at 4:30 pm. At 7:15 the pre-show will begin and finally, at 8 pm the official opening ceremonies will begin, coming to an end with the lighting of the Olympic Pyre - but the most important part of the night's activities hasn't been revealed yet.
