Ex-President Temer Becomes A Defendant for Third Time

Politician supposedly received bribe to edit a decree that favored companies in the port sector

Judge Marcus Vinícius Reis Bastos, of the 12th Lower Federal Court in Brasília, accepted this Monday (29) a complaint against ex-president Michel Temer for supposedly accepting a bribe to edit a decree that favored companies in the port sector. 

With this decision, Temer becomes a defendant for the third time and will have to respond to legal action for crimes in passive corruption and money laundering.

The magistrate confirmed that the accusation presented by the Public Federal Ministry meets the formal requirements set forth in the Code of Criminal Procedure with just cause for criminal prosecution to continue.

He also determined that the ex-president and the other defendants must be notified so that they can present their defense. 

Coronel João Baptista Lima Filho, a friend of Temer, ex-deputy Rodrigo Rocha Loures, and three Rodrimar group executives, Antônio Celso Grecco, Carlos Alberto Costa, and Ricardo Mesquita are also defendants in the case.
