In Brazil, Folha pioneered the adoption of the system called porous paywall (limit of articles available for those who do not subscribe to read for free), a strategy that is also used by the largest newspapers in the world, such as the New York Times and Washington Post, for example. Since then, it has been a leader in digital signatures.

Folha assumed the first position in the circulation of newspapers in 1986. Except for an interval from 2010 to 2013 and a few specific months outside, Folha's leadership has been constant for more than three decades.
