Brazilian Congress Postpones Municipal Elections from October to November

After passing in the Senate, the proposal was approved in the House

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Congress on Wednesday (1st) approved in two rounds a Proposed Amendment to the Constitution that postpones the municipal elections from October to November this year.

The text, which had already passed through the Senate, now goes for promulgation in a session of Congress that should take place this Thursday (2).

The PEC postpones the first round of municipal elections from October 4 to November 15. The second round, where there is one, goes from October 25 to November 29.

To be approved in the House, the proposal needed the favorable vote of three-fifths of the 513 deputies (308 votes).
