In an interview with Folha, congressman Luis Miranda (DEM-DF) stated that the Ministry of Health's corruption scheme could be "much bigger" than the Covaxin vaccine case, investigated by Covid's Parliamentary Inquiry Committee .
Miranda said that his brother, Luis Ricardo Miranda, head of the ministry's import department, sees evidence of a "100% fraudulent" operation to purchase Covid tests.
"If there really is something illegal, it's not just in this vaccine [Covaxin], it's in the whole ministry. President [Jair] Bolsonaro clearly demonstrates that he has no control over this ministry, " said the congressman on Sunday (27).
The two testified at the pandemic hearing on Friday (25). The congressman said that his brother can give more information in a secret session of the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee .
The existence of complaints about irregularities surrounding the purchase of the Indian vaccine Covaxin was revealed by Folha on the 18th, with the disclosure of the confidential testimony of Luis Ricardo to the Federal Public Ministry. Since then, the case has become a priority for the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee in the Senate.
