Supreme Court president, Luiz Fux, met this Monday (12) with Jair Bolsonaro and said, after the encounter, that he had arranged a meeting with the President of the Republic among the heads of the Three Powers.
The announcement comes after Bolsonaro amplified his coup rhetoric. He has been repeating that the 2022 elections may not happen if there is no reliable electoral system — according to him, the paper ballot.
Fux did not mention a date for the meeting, but said that it will serve to set "solid milestones for Brazilian democracy, bearing in mind the stability of our political regime."
"[It was a meeting] to debate how important respect for the institutions and the limits imposed by the Federal Constitution is for Brazilian democracy,” said President Fux.
"The president understood," said the magistrate, noting that Bolsonaro brought an "evangelical moment," prayed, and spoke of forgiveness.
"We recognize that we both have limits, and the four lines of the Constitution define those limits," Bolsonaro said as he left the court.
