Government Extends Emergency Aid until October

Payments will be kept at current values; extra cost was not disclosed

The pandemic emergency aid will be extended for three months, from August to October, according to a decree issued by President Jair Bolsonaro.

The values ​​of the payments, which vary according to the family composition, will be kept in the range of R$ 150 to R$ 375.

Bolsonaro and Planalto do not report the amount of extra credit needed for payments. According to government interlocutors, the figure should be R$ 20.3 billion.

Minister of the Economy, Paulo Guedes, present at the signing of the decree, said that the expansion aims to guarantee "protection for the most vulnerable" while vaccination against Covid advances.

At the end of the period, he said, the idea is to raise the values ​​of Bolsa Família.

The expectation is that the new payments will benefit around 40 million people – the initial estimate was to serve 46 million.

According to the current calendar, it is expected that the vast majority of the population will have received the necessary doses of immunizers by the end of the year.
