A landslide in Ouro Preto destroyed a historic mansion.

The accident took place at Morro da Forca, in the historic center of the city. According to Neri Moutinho, coordinator of the Civil Defense of Ouro Preto, the mansion belongs to city hall and had been off limits to people since 2012.

In addition to the mansion, a warehouse that was also closed and off-limits was also destroyed. According to the Civil Defense, the buildings are listed by the Institute of National Historic and Artistic Heritage.

Due to the heavy rains that hit the state in recent days, the soil is very wet.

"As much as it doesn't rain in the region at the moment, the geological risk remains very high, due to the heavy rains of the last few days that left the soil saturated with water," said Lieutenant Pedro Aihara, from the Fire Department.

Ouro Preto has 313 risk areas and landslide locations.
