Bill to Change Gun Rules Has Threats and Support from the Bolsonaro Clan

Bill that benefits gun collectors, shooters and hunters is pending in the Senate

Brasília

Senators on the front lines of the bill focusing on the rights of gun collectors, shooters and hunters (CACs) have become the target of threats from the sector. Even members of the Bolsonaro clan have sent threats.

With the justification of giving legal certainty to the CACs, the lawsuit changes important points of the legislation on arms and ammunition control in the country. The proposal is in the Constitution and Justice Commission, under the rapporteurship of Senator Marcos do Val (Pode-ES).

The bill has been closely monitored by the sons of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) participated in the last meeting at the CCJ and defended more weapons for the population.

After senators opposed to the text managed to postpone the vote, some of them began to receive threats on social networks and by email.

In one of these threats, Senators Eduardo Girão (Podemos-CE), Eliziane Gama (Citizenship-MA) and Simone Tebet (MDB-MS) are attacked and cursed.

CACs have benefited from a series of government regulations, which have influenced the growth of weapons and ammunition in the hands of this category.
