Investigation of Deaths in Amazonas Has Yet to Pinpoint The Mastermind

Police are looking for more participants in the murder of Bruno Pereira and Dom Phillips

The investigation into the murder of the indigenous person Bruno Pereira and the British journalist Dom Phillips, carried out by the Civil Police of Amazonas and the Federal Police, so far does not point to a mastermind.

The police are also seeking to know if there were more participants in the crime. The deaths were claimed by the fisherman known as Pelado, who described the spot where the bodies had been buried.

He said he hid the boat used by the pair last Sunday when they disappeared. Investigators have not found the vessel.

The human remains were taken this Thursday (16) to Brasília, where an expert at the National Institute of Criminalistics will say if they really belong to the two disappeared.

Pelado said, according to investigators in the case, that at least two more people were involved.

The police detained another suspect, the fisherman's brother, but say he denies participating in the episode.

It is not yet known what the motive for the crime was. Investigators believe it is related to Bruno/Dom's work on illegal fishing and hunting.
