The announcement was made by Glenn on social media. "His death, this morning, came after a 9-month battle in the ICU. He died in complete peace, surrounded by our children, family, and friends."

The journalist recalled his partner's journey, with whom he had two children. David's mother died when he was five. Left at an orphanage in the Jacarezinho favela (RJ), he was adopted by his neighbor, the mother of four other children.

"He became the first openly gay man elected councilor in Rio de Janeiro, and federal congressman at the age of 32. He inspired so many people with his biography, passion, and life force", said Glenn. David would have turned 38 this Wednesday (10).
