President Lula (PT) resumed in-person meetings at the Planalto Palace on Monday (23), following a period of recovery from hip and eyelid surgeries. The leftist leader met with British musician Roger Waters, formerly of Pink Floyd.
On his social media platforms, Lula recalled that the musician attempted to visit him in Curitiba when the current president was imprisoned at the Federal Police unit. "Five years ago, @rogerwaters tried to visit me in Curitiba and was prevented. Today, as he returns to Brazil, we met in the Presidential office at the Planalto Palace. #WishYouWereHere," wrote the president, referring to the Pink Floyd song. The musician will perform a series of concerts in Brazil starting from Tuesday (24) in Brasília.
According to a statement from the Secom (Presidential Social Communication Secretariat), the president and Roger Waters discussed politics and music. The leader emphasized "the importance of such a famous and significant artist not ceasing to be aware and express himself politically."
