Former students of Colégio Rio Branco, one of the most traditional schools in São Paulo, accuse a former teacher of sexually abusing them. According to the reports, Carlos Veiga Filho, 61, who worked at the school until 2003, would encourage teenage boys to join camping groups whose initiation involved making the students strip, painting their bodies with gouache, and being photographed by him. The testimonies were aired on the program Fantástico, on TV Globo, this Sunday (4).

The case was also reported by the magazine piauí. In the report, the former students, now adults, claim that the supervision functioned as a secret society and that a pact of silence was required by Veiga, who was a theater teacher. The episodes allegedly occurred in the 1990s.

Carlos Veiga Filho is in prison on suspicion of vulnerable rape and producing pornographic images of teenagers for acts committed at another school, in the interior of the state. As Folha reported, on June 11, he was involved in an altercation in a residential condominium in Hortolândia. Military police officers who went to the scene to investigate a fight checked the teacher's document and found that there was a warrant for his arrest. The judicial order was related to more recent abuse allegations involving teenagers when he worked in the city of Serra Negra. The description of the case in the Diário da Justiça indicates that Veiga allegedly had sexual relations inside his apartment and on the school premises with three boys who, at the time, were under 14 years old.
