Why Is Anitta only Now Nominated for New Artist Award at the Grammys?

Brazilian singer has a career of over ten years, but only in 2023 was included in the dispute

Ten years ago, Anitta released her first album, including the hit "Show das Poderosas", which put her in the spotlight at first.

But only now was the singer included in the competition for the best new artist award at the Grammys, which took place this Sunday (5), in Los Angeles (USA).

That's because the Grammys is an event organized by the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, an American institution, and usually recognizes music made in the USA and some countries in Europe.

Thus, despite being known by the Brazilian audience for years, Anitta has only now become known to the American public.

The singer's nomination was the result of an intense campaign to promote her work in the country with the most influential music industry in the world.

It was a process that started with the 2019 album "Kisses", and that intensified with another one called "Versions of Me", released last year with several songs in English and featuring well-known American pop producers.

One of the most important steps to gain this visibility was the release of the song "Envolver", which reached the top of the Spotify global ranking and carved Anitta's name on the international pop scene.

Also in the first half of 2022, the Brazilian singer performed on one of the main stages of the famous Coachella festival, which takes place annually in California.
