Brazil's minister of Health, Nelson Teich, lamented on Sunday (10) through social media the fact that Brazil has exceeded the number of 10,000 killed by Covid-19.

The minister of health published this hours before the ministry confirmed 496 new deaths caused by the new coronavirus in the previous 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 11,123.

"Today is a day marked by very different feelings: the special feeling of Mother's Day and the feeling that reflects the suffering and sadness of the more than 10,000 deaths caused by Covid-19," said the minister, in a video posted on his social networks.

Teich also sympathized with families that faced a sadder Mother's Day, because they lost their relatives or because they are working against the virus.

"Here goes my solidarity, my affection, to those mothers who lost their sons or daughters; to those mothers who are with their children on the front lines, who have anguish, afraid of what may happen to them; to the children who lost their mothers, because some mothers were certainly lost on this path," said the minister.

This Sunday's numbers from the Ministry of Health points out that the number of people infected with the disease has increased to 162,699 - 6,760 new cases of Covid-19 were added.
