São Paulo Registers Highest Occupancy of ICU Beds since The Beginning of Pandemic

Committee assesses which patients have more severe condition and prepares more restrictive measures to contain cases

The state of São Paulo records the highest number of Covid-19 patients with hospitalized in ICUs 6,410 people were hospitalized in intensive care beds this Monday (22).

At the peak of the pandemic, in July last year, the state registered 6,257 ICU patients. Patients are being hospitalized for longer periods, which means they are arriving tohospitals in worse condition than before.

Compared to last week, the state measured an increase of 5.6% in the daily average of new admissions, reaching 1,538 patients. According to the secretary, the increase in hospitalizations shows a more intense circulation of the virus in the region.
