With 2,736 Covid-19 Deaths in 24h, Brazil Breaks Seven-Day Moving Average Record of Deaths and Cases

Country completes 19 straight days of record moving average of deaths

Brazil recorded 2,736 deaths from Covid on Wednesday (17), the second highest recorded in the pandemic, and completed 19 consecutive days of records in the seven-day moving average of deaths, now at 2,031.

The death toll occurred on Tuesday (16), with 2,798 fatalities, a number of lives lost comparable to the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York.

There have also been 56 consecutive days with a moving average of deaths above 1,000, which shows the escalating seriousness of the situation.

The country also broke a record for Covid cases, with a record of 90,830 infections.

With data from this Wednesday, the country has reached 285,136 deaths and 11,700,431 infections of Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.
