The Corinthians Stadium, which is set to host the Paulista Championship between Corinthians and São Paulo this Sunday, and also hosted the opening of the World Cup in 2014, is already showing cracks on its exterior.

The Black granite walls found near the ticket office and sports store, are peeling off and could potentially fall.

On game days, people with access to the upper west, lower center, lower side, and lower corner bleachers circulate near the area of the defects.

Fans who frequent the area reported the issues to Folha.  A reporter visited the areas with the director of the Institute of Engineering, Marco Antônio Gullo, who explained the risk of the wall cracking and falling.

“I can confirm that this part of the finishing is compromised.  We can see the detachment of some of the granite slabs,” the engineer said. The risk to visitor safety should be considered, especially due to the heaviness and the height of the slabs."

Gullo also said there was a deficiency in the adhesion capacity of the fastening system, in the case of the mortar. He said that the facility "may have been built with faulty material or with unqualified manpower for the type of service."
