The Santos Youth Supporter group organized a vigil in front of the Albert Einstein hospital, in Morumbi, south region of São Paulo, to show solidarity and pray for the health of Pelé, the greatest scorer in the club's history, who immortalized the number 10 shirt.

Since 10 am, fans have put up a flag in front of the hospital with the image of the Athlete of the Century and a shield from Santos football club. They also put up mini-posters with the reproduction of a photo of Pelé with the number 10 shirt and the phrase "long live the king".

"This is just a tribute from the people of Santos, so he knows that we are here rooting and praying for him", commented Ciro Estivalli dos Santos, 62, who is not part of the organized supporters' group, but lives in Morumbi and learned about the vigil on the social networks.

The King of Football has been hospitalized since Tuesday (29) at the Albert Einstein hospital for treatment of colon cancer.

Pelé, 82, is no longer responding to the chemotherapy treatment he had been undergoing since last September when he was operated on for bowel cancer. At the beginning of the year, metastasis in the intestine, lung, and liver were diagnosed.

Folha learned that the football star is in exclusive palliative care. This means that chemotherapy has been suspended and that he continues to receive comfort measures, to relieve pain and shortness of breath, for example, without being subjected to invasive therapies.
