Although the Federal Police exempted Jair Bolsonaro (PL) from the charge of malfeasance in the case of the purchase of Covaxin, the president is still the subject of five other investigations. Some of these cases, at most, can lead to the removal of the president.
Bolsonaro is accused of interfering with the leadership of the federal police, spreading disinformation about vaccines, promoting attacks on Supreme Court justices, spreading fake news about electronic voting machines and leaking confidential data. This is all in addition to the case of malfeasance about Covaxin, which remains in the Supreme Court.
The president can be denounced by the PGR Attorney General’s Office and, if the House of Representatives approves the follow-up and the Supreme Court accepts the opening of criminal proceedings, Bolsonaro will be automatically removed from office for 180 days, until a solution on the conviction. If the Legislature blocks further investigations, the process will resume after he leaves office.
