Brutally murdered when she was 20 years old, Isabel Cristina Mrad Campos (1962-1982) is officially the newest Brazilian person beatified by the catholic church. The ceremony in recognition of the young woman's ordeal was held this Saturday (10) in Barbacena (MG).
Isabel Cristina was killed 40 years ago, in Juiz de Fora (MG), by a man who worked on assembling a wardrobe in her home and tried to rape her.
Born on July 29, 1962, in Barbacena ( MG) and the daughter of a very devout family, she had moved to Juiz de Fora to take a prep course to try to get into university to study medicine.
Isabel Cristina's ordeal was recognized by Pope Francis in October 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic prevented the ceremony from being held before.
