Empty Mansions Create Ghost Village after Rain in São Sebastião

Properties worth up to US$ 780,000 were hastily evacuated on one of the hills in Barra do Sahy, in SP

Those who arrive by boat at the Barra do Sahy beach, in São Sebastião, can see the mansions on top of the two hills that surround the small bay.

In normal times, mansions on the edge of cliffs would already attract attention, but the landscape became more impressive after the extreme rainfall that caused landslides along the north coast of São Paulo.

With some of the land beneath the houses having caved in, these properties seem to defy gravity. Some crumbled downhill.

Folha climbed to the top of one of the slopes. Fabinho's hill is on the right side of the beach when seen from the sea.

There are about 20 mansions on the hill. Empty, muddy, and with the looks of a place that had been hastily evacuated, they create the atmosphere of a ghost town.

They are properties with more than 300 square meters, with three or more suites, and an average value of R$ 2 million, mostly those located at higher points. The price goes up to R$ 4 million (US$ 780,000) when they are closer to the sand.
