Country also had 12,247 new confirmed cases; 526,447 total

Brasília

Brazil confirmed 623 new deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. The total number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in the country, just over three months ago, is 29,937.

The country also registered 12,247 new confirmed cases. The total is 526,447.

Although the number increased from the previous day, the number of new cases and deaths confirmed this Monday was below that registered in the last week, when the average was 20 thousand new cases and about a thousand deaths.

The government always expects a drop on Sundays and Mondays because smaller teams work on weekends in the laboratories where the tests are processed.

The Ministry of Health pointed out that the country is trending upward in cases and deaths, with no signs of slowing down. The worst of the pandemic has not yet come to Brazil, according to WHO executive director Michael Ryan said on Monday.

Data compiled by John Hopkins University (USA) point out that the country is now the second in the number of Covid-19 records, behind only the USA, which adds up to almost 1.8 million cases.

In the number of deaths, Brazil occupies the fourth position in the ranking, behind the USA, United Kingdom, and Italy.
