Stories of mourning and overcoming difficulties will mark the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Since last year, society has been mourning the pandemic.

In sports, one of the victims was volleyball player Jean Luc Rosat, who died on April 2, at the age of 67. He defended Brazil in Montreal-1976 and Moscow-1980, and was godfather at the baptism of setter Bruninho, captain of the Brazilian team and flag bearer at the opening ceremony in Tokyo.

In the same month, the men's national team coach, Renan Dal Zotto, and the vice president of the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation, Radamés Lattari, were intubated due to Covid-19. The coach's condition was very serious, and he was hospitalized for over a month. Recovered, he was able to resume activities leading the national team in Tokyo.

After the mourning and the apprehension, Bruninho was able to celebrate with the team the title of the League of Nations, in June. He will participate in an Olympics in which it will be difficult for hope to overcome the concerns of the pandemic.
