After the diplomatic imbroglio created with Western partners due to speeches by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) regarding the War in Ukraine, the special advisor for foreign policy Celso Amorim was in Kyiv this Wednesday (10).

The diplomat met with President Volodimir Zelensky, members of his cabinet, and with First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Andrii Melnik, who shared a photo with Lula's advisor on social networks. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitro Kuleba was not in the country.

Lula's adviser told Folha that the visit was "very peaceful". "The dialogue was positive, trust-building, and aimed at explaining our goals for peace," he said.

Amorim has been the president's special envoy to countries with sensitive domestic scenarios that are on the Brazilian foreign policy agenda. This was the case, for example, in Venezuela under Nicolás Maduro, where the diplomat was in March to talk about elections.
