Former Director of Logistics at the Ministry of Health Is Arrested during Senate Covid Pandemic Hearings

Accused of lying in his testimony, Roberto Dias is taken by the Legislative Police; he denied bribes

Former director of logistics at the Ministry of Health Roberto Ferreira Dias was arrested during his testimony to Covid's CPI in the Senate, on charges of having lied. Dias was relieved of duty by the ministry after Folha disclosed that he had requested a bribe.

By order of the commission's president, Omar Aziz (PSD-AM), he was taken to the headquarters of the Legislative Police. If he posts bail, he will be released. Good governance proponents saw, in Aziz's attitude, an abuse of authority.

In his speech, Dias confirmed the dinner on February 25 with Luiz Paulo Dominghetti Pereira, representative of the company Davati Medical Supply, but denied having demanded a bribe of US$ 1 per dose of vaccine in exchange for closing a contract with the ministry.

The deponent said, however, that the meeting in a restaurant in Brasília was accidental and that he did not know Dominghetti.

Aziz cited audios released by CNN Brasil that contradict his version and support the arrest request.
