Congressman Daniel Silveira Receives US$ 184,000 in Salaries and Budget while Still in Prison

Arthur Lira says vote will be held on request for Congressman to leave prison

Congressional leader Arthur Lira (PP-AL), promised lawmakers that at the end of November he will put forward a vote in the plenary on PTB's request for congressman Daniel Silveira (RJ) to leave prison.

For the last three months, the House's Ethics Council has recommended the suspension of the deputy's term, who, even in prison and without participating in training, continues to receive a salary and budget, such as R$ 111,700 monthly for hiring advisors.

The petition for his release from prison requires suspending criminal action against the congressman in the Supreme Court. It was presented to the Chamber by the PTB, which announced that it is now affiliated with the congressman. According to the Chamber's records, the PSL —the party by which Silveira was elected and to which he is still affiliated— joined on the same day with the demand to include the request on the voting agenda.
