More than 100 Brazilians Volunteer for War against Russia, Says Ukrainian Embassy

Diplomat says only people with combat experience will be selected

Brasília

The chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of Ukraine in Brazil, Anatoliy Tkach, said this Thursday (3) that more than 100 Brazilians have already offered to fight against Russia. Tkach did not say whether any of these Brazilians will or are already in Ukraine to participate in the war.

The diplomat said that only people with combat experience will be selected. "Registration [to participate in the fighting] takes place there in Ukraine. To apply, to be chosen, [they have to be] people with experience," Tkach told the press. "There are more than 100 [Brazilians who have volunteered]. We cannot respond to all of them," he added.

The head of the Embassy of Ukraine in Brazil thanked the Jair Bolsonaro government (PL) for sending humanitarian aid material. The flight with these items will leave next Monday (7th) and return with Brazilians who were in Ukraine. The diplomat said that a small group of Ukrainians showed interest in coming to Brazil. He did not confirm the number of people.
