President Jair Bolsonaro said that Nazism must be rejected "unrestrictedly and permanently" and equated it with communism.

"The Nazi ideology must be rejected in an unrestricted and permanent way, without reservations that allow its flourishing, as well as any and all totalitarian ideology that jeopardizes the fundamental rights of peoples and individuals, such as the right to life and liberty," wrote the president on Twitter.

"It is also our wish that other organizations that promote ideologies that preach anti-Semitism, the division of people into races or classes, and that also decimated millions of innocent people around the world, such as communism, be reached and fought by our laws," he added.

Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro, son of the president, has a bill that proposes the criminalization of communism.

The chief executive did not specifically mention the case of Bruno Aiub, aka Monark, one of the presenters of the Flow podcast, who defended the existence of a Nazi party.

The backlash caused Monark to be dropped from the show.
