Second arrest with case of disappearance of indigenous expert and journalist in Vale do Javari was confirmed by PF

The Civil Police of Amazonas carried out this Tuesday (14), another arrest of a suspect involved in the disappearance of indigenous expert Bruno Pereira and British journalist Dom Phillips, in the region of Vale do Javari (AM).

The new suspect is Oseney da Costa de Oliveira, 41, known as Dos Santos. According to Alex Perez, who runs the police station in Atalaia do Norte (AM), he is the brother of Amarildo Oliveira, known as Pelado, who was arrested last week also for possible involvement in the case.

The possible crime being investigated is qualified homicide, according to the delegate. Two witnesses "put" Pelado and Oseney "where there was supposedly a crime."

The Civil Police of Amazonas carried out searches in the São Gabriel community this Tuesday. The other suspect involved in the case, Pelado, was arrested last week.

Police officers inspected the homes of residents, which are on the banks of the Itaquaí River. A paddle was seized.

On Sunday (12), divers from the Amazonas Fire Department found a backpack and other personal belongings of the journalist and indigenous expert. The findings reinforce the hypothesis that fishing and illegal hunting are related to the disappearance.
