In a statement, the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs said that a "rigorous investigation into the case" will be conducted. The worker victim of the assaults - who is also Filipino - returned to her country of origin last Wednesday (21).

"The department is in contact with her to guarantee her well-being and her cooperation in the investigations," says the note.

TV Globo's Fantástico program published the scenes of the assaults. The station had access to images of the internal security circuit of the embassy's official residence in Brasilia. Marichu's aggressions against the domestic worker were recorded on several occasions.

In the various videos, the ambassador slaps and tugs on her ear and hits her with an umbrella.

Marichu started her Brazil mission in April 2018, when she presented her credential letters to then President Michel Temer.
